Aquarius Calls: The North Node and the Memory of the Net

2007–2009 wasn't a period in a history book for me - it was a turbulent, pivotal stretch of my own life. I met the father of my youngest two children and began, somewhere along the way, what can only be described as a second youth. Saturn was moving through my eighth house those years, making its final square before the Saturn return that wouldn't arrive until 2014 - in other words, I was settling accounts for choices made on my own path toward adulthood. In 2009, my second daughter was born - a gift from heaven.



At the same time, the North Node collectively shifted into Aquarius - moving, in my own chart, through my second house, the house of solid ground beneath your feet. I searched hard for that ground in those years, and hadn't found it yet. It would only arrive after the Saturn return, but that's a story for another time.

This is exactly what the Lunar Nodes are about: a collective movement that also unfolds personally, house by house, long before you realize what's being sown. And on July 26, 2026, the North Node shifts into Aquarius once again. It's no coincidence that 2008-feeling comes with it.

1. What the Nodes Ask - and Why Jung Would Have Recognized Them

The Lunar Nodes aren't planets but mathematical intersections: the points where the moon's orbit crosses the sun's path. That's precisely why they feel so fated - not a force that pushes, but a geometry that can't be sidestepped. The South Node in Leo marks what may be released: the need for the personal stage, recognition as an individual, the shine of an ego that sets itself apart. The North Node in Aquarius points the direction: a fate that only completes itself once you know yourself as part of something larger than yourself.

If you ask me, Jung would have recognized this instantly as the tension between the personal and the collective unconscious. Psychologically read, Aquarius is the sign of the collective field itself - the net of archetypes and ideas that stirs all of us at once, often before we grasp it individually. A North Node ingress into this sign is therefore never only a personal theme. It's an invitation to read your own story as part of a larger pattern - the work of individuation, but on a collective scale.

2. The Historical Mirror - Three Earlier Times Fate Chose This Path



The cycle runs roughly 18.5 years, and the three most recent earlier passages show a stubborn pattern: each time, some outdated Leo stronghold collapses - power, pride, centralization - while something radically collective or technological arises at the same time.

2007–2009. The credit crisis broke the illusion of banking as an unshakeable authority; Lehman Brothers fell, Madoff's pyramid imploded. At the same time, Bitcoin, Chrome, and Spotify were born - three systems that redistribute power and distribution without a central owner. Obama was elected and signed a stimulus package that, not coincidentally, echoed Roosevelt's New Deal.

1989–1990. The Berlin Wall fell, the Soviet Union began to unravel. It's hard to imagine a clearer image of a Leo-style power (the state as absolute authority) making way for an unprecedented, collective new order.

1950–1952. The early architecture of the Cold War and the Korean War: the world rearranged itself into blocs, ideologies that would define the collective playing field for decades.

Three times, the same rhythm: the old authority collapses, the new network is born. Aquarius, after all, doesn't govern the individual - it governs the system through which individuals are connected.

3. Pluto Is Already There - and That Changes Everything

What makes this ingress different from the previous three: Pluto has already been moving through Aquarius for some time. Where the North Node shows the direction of fate, Pluto shows where the foundations themselves are being rewritten - irreversibly, underground, with a force that won't be tempered. For the first time in this cycle, fate and deep transformation land in the same sign together. A double Aquarian charge.

This is exactly the layer I touched on in an earlier post, when I placed Pluto in Aquarius alongside the rise of AI: a technology that isn't simply a new tool but - in true Aquarian fashion - a restructuring of who or what will soon "think" on behalf of the collective. Where 2008 brought the birth of Bitcoin as the first, still-fragile form of a decentralized system, this double charge brings something of a different order: artificial intelligence that can't be assigned to a single institution, a single bank, a single state, but spreads like the net itself. Not a tool in anyone's hand, but a structure that inserts itself between all of us.

The question this transit poses, then, isn't only "what's changing" - it's: who or what will soon speak on behalf of the collective, and are we willing to answer that question together, rather than leaving it to the system itself?

1984
Orwell already saw this layer in 1948, when he wrote 1984: a power that doesn't occupy your body but rewrites your past, until the past itself becomes pliable to whoever holds power at any given moment. It hasn't stayed a dystopian image. In China, as part of what's called the "Sinicization of Christianity," a project is currently underway to rewrite the Bible so it aligns with "core socialist values" - in some churches in Henan, the Ten Commandments have even been replaced with quotes from Xi Jinping. A sacred text, presumed unchangeable, turns out to be rewritable according to political expediency. That's Aquarius on its shadow side: the net that no longer fixes facts in place but redistributes them to whoever controls access. When AI starts generating, summarizing, and rewriting text on a similar but vastly larger scale, the same question becomes urgent -not "is this true," but "can this still be traced back to a source that hasn't itself been rewritten." Traceability and verifiability of facts stop being a technical detail and become the very ground on which the distinction between fact and fiction still stands.

Aquarius, however, has two faces, and the very net that can rewrite facts is the same net that connects people to each other without an institution in between. The same social media that blur the line between fact and fiction also enable the rapid, autonomous rise of humanitarian initiatives: crowdfunding campaigns that raise half a million in a day, citizen movements that organize around a disaster or an injustice with no central leadership, volunteer networks that form purely because enough people saw the same thing at the same time and moved at the same time. That same loose, unbound form also enables the open exchange of knowledge: researchers, makers, and like-minded people exchanging open-source material, code, and insight across borders in the blink of an eye - no institution granting permission, no gatekeeper filtering, just the net itself connecting whoever wants to contribute. No institution gave the order - the collective itself, organized through the net. That's Aquarius on its light side: the same structure that enables falsification also enables unmediated solidarity and free knowledge-sharing. Shadow and light share, quite literally, the same net here.

4. What This Asks of You, Personally

On the soul level, the invitation is simpler than world history would suggest: less attachment to your own shine, your own being right, your own stage - and more trust in what arises once you genuinely connect yourself to a group, a network, a cause larger than your own name. Not as self-erasure, but as a coming of age: the Leo self doesn't have to disappear, it just no longer needs to be the only source of light.
